Throuple scandal: Is US Rep affair Revenge Porn or workplace abuse?

Leaked photos of Representative Katie Hill showing her in a ‘Throuple’ with her staffer in a three-way relationship has not just got the politics in US focus away from President Trump’s impeachment to the democrat camp. These photos have divided followers of the shock revelation into very vocal camps of those arguing against their circulation as obnoxious revenge porn by a bitter husband choosing to time it with a politically loaded season in a glaring act of trespassing over private space against those singed by an elected representative’s outrageous turpitude where she chose to abuse her position of privilege by involving an underling in sexual proclivities with her spouse.

After repeatedly denying any relationship with her staffer, Hill who is on the committee inquiring into Trump is now under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for glaring violation of its rules prohibiting any relationship with staffers. Hill has now, in a turn of events, admitted to being in a relationship with staffer before entering the Congress.

What happened?

The scandalous photos first surfaced in an online conservative publication redstate.org. The photos and the story released by the Red State show the representative in explicit poses, including the one where she is combing the hair of a campaign staffer completely naked. The picture has gone viral with comments calling it as disgusting “revenge porn”, to being a “flaming trainwreck” whose charges of egregious behaviour levelled at Trump exploded in her own face.

In other photos she’s seen romping smoking a bong in her hands and kissing one of her staffers. The Daily Mail identified her staffer as Morgan Desjardins from Santa Clarita, California and pointed out to “Nazi-era tattoo” on her bikini line.

Twitter comments that have landed on the revelations around Hill’s proclivities are as ingenious as ever.

It is now presumed that Hill’s husband Kenny Heslep who she is admittedly in the process of an acrimonious split, may have released the compromising photos. Media reports have insinuated Hill of being a “bisexual” who was purportedly into a simultaneously relationship with legislative director Graham Kelly who managed her campaign finances. Hill had earlier denied the accusations. In a statement to media houses, she had said, “I am saddened that the deeply personal matter of my divorce has been brought into public view and the vindictive claims of my ex have not involved the lives and reputations of unrelated parties.”

What the House says

The House proscribes members from indulging in any relationship of sexual nature with a staffer in their Congressional offices. The House explicitly rules, that its members may not engage in a sexual relationship with any employee of the House who works under the supervision of the Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner, or who is an employee of a committee on which the Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner serves. The House Ethics Committee has in the past swept in on such reporting and has now chosen to investigate Hill for pitching a camping tent on thin ice.

In her statement to POLITICO, Hill denied the allegations and claimed the revelations as a “coordinated effort” by her opponents to destroy her. “The fact is I am going through a divorce from an abusive husband who seems determined to try to humiliate me… I am disgusted that my opponents would seek to exploit such a private matter for political gain,” she told POLITICO.

Why does it lead to Trump impeachment

Representative Katie Hill is currently serving as the vice-chairperson of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which is one of the half-a-dozen committees that have been mandated to conduct inquiries into the ongoing impeachment proceedings against the US president Donald Trump. These committees have been assigned the task by Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, who has so far remained stoically silent over the raging forest fire that threatens to engulf the democrat siege of the Republican camp.

The photos undoubtedly compromise the democrats’ charge against the US president and are being labelled as a Kompromat that can not only be employed against the representative but also the party which is trying to pin the president to the impeachment ground and score big inside the election ring.
