Stating that some models of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus may not be able to power on due to a failed component, Apple has launched a free repair programme for these units. The affected models are those manufactured between October 2018 and August 2019.

While the issue may not affect all variants, the company announced, “Apple has determined that certain iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices may not power on due to a component that may fail. This issue only affects devices within a limited serial number range that were manufactured between October 2018 to August 2019. The program covers affected iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices for 2 years after the first retail sale of the unit.”

You can enter the serial number here to find out if your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus is eligible for the repair programme. If your phone is eligible for the programme, you can head to the nearest authorised Apple store or get in touch with Apple support. You can also contact Apple for a refund if you have already got the repair completed and paid for it.

According to the support page on the company’s website, this is Apple’s sixth repair programme this year. It had earlier offered repair/recall for the battery of the old 15-inch MacBook Pro, the display backlight of 13-inch MacBook Pro, screens on Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3, among others.
