This Sunday, ditch the outings. No, seriously! You might want to hit the couch than the dance floor or the car accelerator to bring the weekend to a gratifying conclusion. For a change, you’re spoilt for choice on the poor ol’ TV, which brings you the finale of two of the most loved sports on earth – Cricket and Tennis.

The finals of Cricket World Cup and the Wimbledon are being played out on Sunday. Both the title clashes are set in London – the team sport in Lords, and the singles event at Wimbledon – an hour apart from each other. London’s summer sporting never looked more exciting, but now.

Tennis legends Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic will fight each other for the Grand Slam Title at Wimbledon. Federer will look to extend his record of eight titles here to nine, while Djokovic would want to join the league of extraordinary aces – Besides Federer, Bjorn Borg and Pete Sampras –all of who have won the Wimbledon five times or more. What makes it truly a clash of the titans is the win history of the both the players combined. They share the most of the wins in Wimbledon over the last 15 years.

At Lords, on the other side of London, willow wielder Kane Williamson leads the Kiwis into the finals with the home team England who are led by a spirited Irishman Eoin Morgan. Will Kane be able to do it? Last heard, Eoin and his boys were focussing on cornering Williamson to romp home to victory. New Zealand forced a shock defeat on India in the rain-choked semis that not only throttled the unbeaten streak of Skipper Virat Kholi’s men but also effectively ended a possible reprise of the 1983 dream run when Kapil’s Devils had wrested the first World Cup from the mighty West Indies at this very venue.

Nah! It’s not Federer versus Djokovic. Nor, is it Kane versus Eoin. It’s Cricket Vs Tennis and it would be interesting to watch which game turns out to be more beautiful on an epic watch-tv Sunday. The ball, as they say, is now in your court.
