Just some Friends goofing around: Has Jennifer broken the royal record?
1 min readGuess who sent Instagram into a tizzy this week? Yes, Jennifer Aniston’s Friends reunion selfie caused some glitches for the photo-sharing platform when the actress jumped on the bandwagon on October 16. Her very first post, which happened to be a selfie of the Friends stars’ reunion, led to thousands of follows, likes and comments. More than 116,000 users followed the actress within 30 minutes of her creating the account. She could possibly have broken Prince Harry and wife Meghan’s Guinness World Record of being the fastest Instagram account to reach one million followers (5 hours and 45 minutes for Prince Harry and Meghan).
Aniston’s first post — with the popular sitcom co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry — was captioned, ‘And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM.’ Her profile bio reads ‘My friends call me Jen.’
Aniston has garnered 9.1million (and counting) followers since, less than two days after her joining the platform. Her post has an even higher number of likes and comments, with messages of her Friends co-stars and celebs welcoming her on the platform being shared in her Instagram stories.
As fans seemed unable to follow her account for a while due to the technical issues, Aniston replied to one of the comments, ‘I think I broke it.’
You may be right, Jen. And it’s not just the internet!
